Xabier de Beristain Humphrey heads the Commercial and Sports Law department at Scornik Gerstein LLP from the firm’s Wimpole Street office, advising international businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, and high-net-worth individuals on complex commercial and strategic legal matters.

He specialises in commercial law, High Court litigation, shareholder disputes, intellectual property protection, cross-border transactions, and sports law. His work focuses on helping business owners protect and grow their companies while reducing legal risk and maximising long-term value.

Before joining Scornik Gerstein, Xabier worked in banking, manufacturing, and leading international law firms across Paris, Munich, Madrid, and London, including Magic Circle environments. This international experience gives him a strong understanding of how businesses operate across multiple sectors and jurisdictions.

Xabier advises clients fluently in English, Spanish, French, and German, and has represented foreign heads of state, multinational companies, and internationally listed businesses.

Having also founded, managed, and sold his own companies, he understands the commercial realities faced by entrepreneurs and directors. As a result, he often acts as a trusted strategic adviser and external legal counsel for international companies and CEOs.

His recent work includes High Court litigation, international software acquisitions, financing structures, and cross-border intellectual property disputes.

Alongside his commercial practice, Xabier founded Division X Sports, advising on football transfers, player contracts, rugby, and professional boxing matters across international markets.
